Child (w Parent Answer) being Ordered Before Parent in Same Day Review Queue
Issue - getting shown Child cards (with Parent answer) before being tested on the Parent card within the same day.
Why important -
In general, seeing the answer to a card you are about to review that day may accidentally load it into short term memory when you may have not otherwise recalled it.
Simply changing the hierarchy is not always (or a effective) solution: e.g
[Parent] As X increases, Y >> decreases
[Child] Why >> because Z
OR
[Parent] X is blanked as >> Y
[Child] Thus can assume its what type of Z? >> K
Here child directly uses the parent as part of the prompt. ‘Chain of logic’ cards per say. Therefore it’s child status is important. However gives away parent answer, which is problematic if parent being tested same day.
Possible Solutions - when two cards in a hierarchical chain are due the same day:
Ensure gather order shows in descending hierarchal order
Bury cards on the same lineage path → Anki does this with its ‘siblings’ function (seems more problematic since you’d have to determine priority and you want to make sure one card isn’t getting consistently buried)
