Distribute Linux App as Flatpak
Please distribute the Linux app through Flatpak!
Whats wrong with Appimage?
Appimages don’t work together nicely with most desktop environmets. I mostly use Gnome, where without additional work the app can’t even be implemented into the list of installed apps by default. Also the Icon doesn’t work and always falls back a default icon.
Why is Flatpak better?
Flatpak has established itself as the standard for distributing Linux apps across distributions. Gnome, Elementary OS, Endless OS, Fedora Silverblue and probably more are even using it as the standard to distribute all apps. Why? Flatpak offers security for the users by sandboxing the applications, updates are easy and can happen automatically in the background, everyting just works nicely and saves space because Flatpak apps share common libraries.
In addition to that, the app could be published on Flathub, allowing users to install the app easily through their software center and promoting it to new users, who are searching for a notes application.
RemNote would be joining many popular apps like Firefox, Google Chrome, Spotify, Discord, Steam, VLC, VS Code, OBS Studio and Obsidian ;)
