Don't leave empty rems behind
โจ New Feature Request for RemNote: Automatic Deletion of Empty Rems
I find having empty rems quite bothersome and would greatly appreciate it if they could be deleted automatically under certain circumstances. Specifically, if a new rem is created but ultimately left without any text content, it would be ideal if it were automatically removed.
I recognize that some users might intentionally use empty rems for visual spacing or other organizational purposes within their RemNote documents. Therefore, this feature should likely be configurable through a setting, allowing users to enable or disable it according to their preference.
๐ค Problem Solved and Workflow Improvement:
My typical workflow in RemNote often involves quickly creating new rems by clicking below an existing rem (on remโs page when I focus/zoom in on the rem) or pressing Enter. Sometimes, I create these rems without immediately knowing what content I want to add. If I then realize I don't need the new rem, I have to manually delete it using the //delete
command or by pressing Backspace/Delete.
This constant need to manually delete empty rems interrupts my train of thought and adds unnecessary friction to my workflow. It would be a significant improvement if these empty rems (or rems containing only whitespace like spaces and tabs) were automatically deleted when I move my cursor to another rem or navigate away from them entirely. This would help keep my RemNote documents cleaner and allow me to focus more on the content that matters.
