Enable Cursor Navigation with Arrow Keys in RemNote's Android Tablet and Phone App
What?
In the RemNote app for Android tablets and phones, using the arrow keys on an external keyboard does not move the cursor within text fields as expected. This limitation makes it difficult to edit specific parts of a note, especially when trying to correct text within a sentence. For example, if I make a typo in the middle of a sentence, I cannot use the arrow keys to reposition the cursor for quick corrections; instead, I need to manually tap on the screen or use a mouse to click in the exact spot. I currently experience this issue on a Samsung Galaxy Tab S8, but it likely affects other Android devices as well.
Why?
Adding support for arrow key navigation would greatly improve usability for Android tablet and phone users who rely on external keyboards for efficient note-taking and editing. This feature would enable faster, more precise text correction and contribute to a more seamless workflow. Itโs especially valuable for users who want to emulate a desktop-like experience, as it allows for smooth and uninterrupted editing.
Inspiration?
Other applications on Android devices, as well as the desktop version of RemNote, already support cursor navigation via arrow keys. Having similar functionality on Android tablets and phones would provide a consistent experience across platforms, which is especially helpful for users who switch between devices.
