Group Flashcards by Folder Structure During Reviews to Reduce Task Switching Cost
Please add an option to group flashcards during review based on the folder or subfolder in which their document or parent Rem resides. This would extend the current “Group Similar Cards” functionality with an additional option: “Cards in the same folder or subfolder”
🤔 What problem does it solve for you? How would it improve your workflow or experience with RemNote?
Even with the current grouping options (document, tag, reference, hierarchy), I experience high task-switching costs. My RemNote knowledge base is organized into folders that reflect high-level categories such as disciplines, projects, or thematic areas. However, during reviews, flashcards from entirely unrelated areas appear in sequence. This fragmentation forces me to constantly shift mental context, which is cognitively exhausting and counterproductive to deep, focused learning.
By grouping flashcards according to folder/subfolder structure, review sessions would become more coherent and semantically clustered. This mirrors the way I already conceptualize and organize my knowledge, reduces friction, and increases flow during study.
