Pins & References for parts of Images

I love the ability to create pins & quote references with the PDF feature. Would love to be able to do the same thing with an image. The difference is that it is not a pdf. Of course it would not have the text selection tool since it's an image & not a pdf

Currently I often change my images into a pdf so I can basically create the workflow above. That is time consuming though. Normally I have to download from Dropbox, paste into Word & save as pdf (or use app of choice), upload to RemNote, etc. That adds up in wasted time. If I could simply start connecting the images it would be great
