Request for Granular Access Permissions in Collaborative Shared Knowledge Bases
Feature Request:
While RemNote’s shared knowledge bases are a great start for collaboration, it would be incredibly helpful to have more granular control over access rights within a single knowledge base. Currently, when sharing a knowledge base, all notes and content within that base are shared with collaborators. However, there are many use cases where users might only want to share specific notes or sections without granting access to the entire knowledge base.
Feature Suggestion:
I propose adding a more detailed permission system that allows the owner of a knowledge base to control access at the note or document level. This would enable users to share only selected parts of a knowledge base, similar to how it works in platforms like Notion, where specific pages or sections can be shared with different permission levels.
Suggested Permissions Features:
Selective Sharing of Individual Notes: Allow users to select specific notes or documents to share within a knowledge base instead of sharing the entire vault.
-
Granular Access Rights: Add the ability to set roles or access rights for each shared note or document, such as:
View-only: Allow collaborators to view but not edit specific notes.
Edit: Grant full editing rights for selected notes or documents.
Comment-only: Enable collaborators to leave comments on notes without being able to alter the content.
Flexible Access Control: Provide options to share certain notes with specific people, so that different collaborators can work within the same knowledge base but only see the content relevant to them.
Benefits:
Enhanced Privacy and Control: Users can maintain privacy over certain notes while still collaborating on shared projects within the same knowledge base.
Streamlined Collaboration: Teams can work together on specific documents or sections without gaining unnecessary access to unrelated content.
Improved Organization: For projects with multiple contributors, granular permissions would help keep work organized by ensuring each person has access only to their relevant sections.
This feature would significantly enhance RemNote’s collaborative functionality, making it more versatile and suitable for complex projects that require varying levels of access. Thank you for considering this suggestion!
