Search results in sidebar as opposed to popup menu

Currently, the clicking the search bar in the left-sidebar just opens the popup search menu. The trouble with this is that you have to open each page in order to see its contents, then re-open the search popup to check the next result.

My recommendation: clicking the search bar opens a dedicated sidebar with options for sorting, filtering, queries, etc, and ability to see past searches. It would be easy to rapidly check the contents of many documents without closing the search.
